RECONSTITUTING THE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE ON
STATISTICAL STANDARDS AND CLASSIFICATIONS

WHEREAS, the Technical Committee on Statistical Standards and Classifications (TCSSC) was created by virtue of NSCB Memorandum Order No. 3, s. 1988, and reorganized thru NSCB Memorandum Order No. 004, s. 2000, to advise the Board in the development and maintenance of statistical standards and classification systems in government statistics;

WHEREAS, there is a need to reconstitute the membership of the Committee to avail of the required expertise and to ensure closer interaction and coordination among concerned agencies;

NOW, THEREFORE, the composition of the Technical Committee on Statistical Standards and Classifications pursuant to Executive Order No. 121, is hereby amended as follows:

The specific objectives of the Committee are as follows:

To provide expertise and advice in the development and maintenance of statistical standards and classification systems;
To review and assess current issues and problems encountered in the application of prescribed standards and serve as a forum in resolving such problems.

The membership of the Committee may be increased or decreased, as the exigencies of its work require, provided that it shall be authorized by the Secretary General.

The Technical Committee may create/reconstitute sub-committees or working groups as the need arises. Membership of said sub-committees/working groups shall come from the technical staff of the agencies represented and other government entities. A technical secretariat, which shall be drawn from NSCB personnel, shall be provided to the Technical Committee.

The Technical Committee shall submit to the Secretary General its work programs and reports on the progress of its work, including the findings and recommendations on technical issues referred to it.

The Secretary General shall issue the necessary guidelines for the Committee’s activities, reports and recommendations.

This Memorandum Order takes effect on 15 January 2003.
