2011 CLOSES WITH A 12-MONTH
LOW INFLATION

Bicol Region's annual inflation rate ended the year on a good note as it eased in December to its lowest level in 12 months, falling by 0.8 percentage points over the November 2011 level. The year-on-year change was placed at 3.1 percent, 0.1 percentage point higher than the previous year's level and 0.9 percentage lower than the national average.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DIPS TO 5.3 PERCENT IN
OCTOBER

Unemployment rate in the Bicol Region improved to 5.3 percent in the third quarter of 2011 based on the results of the October 2011 round of the Labor Force Survey conducted by the National Statistics Office. Employment rate was 0.5 percentage point higher than the rate registered in the same period last year. Total population 15 years old and over reached an estimated 3.44 million persons in October,  roughly 5.5 percent of the national

total.

NSCB5 RELEASES THE 2011 RSET
IN BICOL REGION

The NSCB Regional Division V released recently the 2011 Regional Social and Economic Trends (RSET) in Bicol Region. This publication contains data series and sectoral analyses on the social and economic developments of the region its provinces, cities and municipalities. Graphics and illustrations are included to highlight significant indicators. The RSET is useful in making decisions and setting policies as well as in the formulation and implementation of programs and projects towards effective governance and public service delivery at the local level.

CATANDUANES IS TOP BICOL PROVINCE IN
GOOD GOVERNANCE INDEX?
Among the six provinces of the Bicol Region in 2008, Catanduanes had the highest Good Governance Index (GGI) at 132.56, and ranked 25th among the 79 provinces in the country. In 2005, Catanduanes ranked 22nd and continued to have the highest GGI even in 2008.
