PSA Davao Region Chapter

The National Statistical
Coordination Regional Division 11 spearheaded the setting up of the
Philippine Statistical Association, (PSA), Davao Region Chapter. The PSA is
a private non-stock and non-profit foundation organized on December 22, 1951
and registered and incorporated on September 24, 1952 with the Securities
and Exchange Commission.
The PSA envisions to be a
nationally and globally recognized society of statisticians and allied
professionals committed to advancing the statistics profession and to
promoting sound statistical science for the welfare of all Filipinos and the
entire humanity.
It is tasked to uplift and
advance the statistics profession; encourage and promote the proper
application and interpretation of statistics in all fields of learning and
endeavors; work for the improvement of statistical literacy and education at
all levels; and serve the public by providing advice on current statistical
issues and concerns.
The regular activities of
the PSA are statistical trainings for members and other regional
stakeholders such as the local government units, the national government
agencies, academe, private sector; the provision of PSA Publications such as
the PSA Newsletter, The Philippine Statistician; holding of statistical
Conferences; Workshops and Symposia and provision of statistical
consultancies.
With the
launching of the PSA Davao Region chapter, the following PSA Davao Region
Chapter members were elected officers: Dr. Edmundo B. Prantilla of
the University of Southeastern Philippines, School of Applied Economics as
the Chairperson; Ms. Estrella R. Turingan, Regional Head of the
National Statistical Coordination Board XI, as the Vice Chairperson; Dr.
Edgardo D. Cruz, Professor of the University of Southeastern
Philippines, School of Applied Economics as the Secretary; Ms. Cresencia
dela Victoria, Division Chief, City Planning and Development
Coordination Office, Davao City, Treasurer and Mr. Romeo Celeste, OIC
Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, Compostela Valley Province,
Auditor.
